First day of fall and look what happened.....

This part of the fall season always makes me sad....
A miracle....the tomatoes were spared...for a while anyway! Leaves are starting to turn..,
The girls are starting to molt. Feathers everywhere!
and Mr. Darcy behind his fence...patiently waiting for me.

Meet our new grandbaby....

Addie had a little scare today and ended up at the Doctor's office to make sure all was well..
... and it was! Whew!
She sent this photo of our new little grand-darlin'.
I have no idea where he or she is in this photo,
but I love it just the same.
Guess this little one was as active as can be.
So many people are praying for the well being of this child
and I am grateful

Time to get ready for the holidays!

The change in seasons reminds me that Christmas is just around the corner.
This time last year, Kristina Werner - my very favorite graphic creater - posted her version of this fun little gift card. http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/?m=200809 Scroll down on the page and you will find it. Thought I would post what I did with it here:
I ended up having a class on making this gift card. Such fun to see what everyone came up with!

Close ups....

Funky new planters for this year....

I love looking for fun & crazy planters. This year Joel and went to Dottie's place - and what treasures we found. Joel is so patient and sweet to me. He let me wonder all over her grounds .. pick out what I fell in love with and he carted it all home for me. It was like Christmas in May...I have never had such fun planting as I did last spring. I wanted to share the fun with you...(especially Jannetta, since we love so many of the same things :)

I spotted this milk/cream separator at Dottie's and went back for it a few days later. Didn't plant it this year but watch out...any ideas what I might plant in it?

Some of the planters getting ready to be filled with the joy of summer ... FLOWERS!

When Addie saw my mop bucket, she asked me to make sure SHE gets it when I die! Had to laugh ... my passion for the wierd carries on!

My copper pot!
This reminded my of my DearestAunt Judy. It looked like something she would love...and I do too!

I bought the standing wash tub from Dottie a couple years ago. Every year I plant petunias in it and by the end of summer they are over flowing with color. The newest planter here is the soup pot. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was my friend Jeannetta. She collects pots like this with read rims..me - I was thrilled to find this one with a black rim. Reminds me of days when Jeannetta and I would go looking for our funky treasures in Olathe. What fun we had! Joel's old work boots are on the old stump. I tried to plant flowers in them for several years but it is too hot and dry here. Couldn't keep the soil damp to keep the flowers alive. They give character to this scene.
When I found and fell in love with this cooking plate, Joel just looked at me
like I had lost my mind. I love it!
Next year the soup pot may go atop this treasure!

The end of summer is fast approaching and I wanted to keep some reminders of what
Home Sweet Home looks like while it is colorful and alive!Megan, this shot is for you!
Invitation to the back yard.
..and the garden...I always hate to see it end.
Imagine the theme from "JAWS" as you view this photo..
I counted 32 egg plants growing. If you like the vegetable - call me!
I've made several recipes using this veggie...I don't want to try 32 more recipes!!

Keeping the dog home

A dog's life is a good one...so he thinks! Up to this point, Mr. Darcy has had free run of the place.

Things are beginning to change....

Joel has started building a gate to keep little dogs where they belong!

He asked me to draw a gate and wa-laaa...it starts to take shape!

What a guy...
In his sleep I hear him say..."what ever Susan wants....Susan gets."
What can I say...I love the man!
-Thanks honey-

What a great way to start the weekend!

Saturday morning and we are having breakfast with the Missionaries!
What great young men they are! They kept us laughing with funny stories then the mood would get thoughtful with spiritual messages. What a pleasure it is to have them in our home.
